Additional equipment
What Christian Z. wants to tell you
✅ ✅ What is “normal” on the F 800 R
- The gearbox is known to be a bit notchy/stiff
- Neutral is harder to find when fully stopped, particularly after riding
- It’s typically much easier to select neutral while the bike is still slightly moving
👉 Many owners report:
- “Hard to find neutral at a stoplight”
- “Easier when rolling a bit”
This is due to:
- The design of the gearbox and selector drum
- Slight clutch drag when hot
- The narrow position of neutral between 1st and 2nd
✅ Practical rider tips (what most owners do)
- Select neutral just before you fully stop
- Use a very light tap (not force)
- If stuck:
- Release clutch slightly, pull again, retry
- Roll the bike a few centimeters
